Tropical Sunrise Passionfruit Orange (Print Version)

Layered passionfruit, orange and pineapple drink with grenadine for a colorful, refreshing tropical sunrise—serves two.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit Juices

01 - 1/2 cup passionfruit juice (fresh or bottled)
02 - 3/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
03 - 1/4 cup pineapple juice

→ Sweetener

04 - 1 tbsp grenadine syrup

→ Garnish & Extras

05 - Ice cubes (as needed)
06 - Orange slices (for garnish)
07 - Fresh mint sprigs (optional)
08 - Passionfruit pulp (optional, for texture)

# How-To Steps:

01 - Place two tall serving glasses on a stable surface and fill each glass with ice cubes to chill and support the layers.
02 - Measure and divide the juices: pour 1/4 cup passionfruit juice into each glass, then add 3/8 cup orange juice to each, followed by 2 tablespoons pineapple juice per glass.
03 - Using a spoon or the inside edge of the glass, slowly pour 1/2 tablespoon grenadine syrup down the inside edge of each glass; the syrup will sink and then gently rise to form a layered sunrise.
04 - Finish each glass with an orange slice on the rim, a sprig of mint, and a small spoonful of passionfruit pulp if desired for texture and aroma.
05 - Serve without stirring to preserve the layered appearance; advise guests to drink soon to enjoy optimal freshness.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The vibrant colors and tropical flavors feel like you’re on a sunny getaway, even if you’re just in your kitchen.
  • It’s the easiest way to wow guests (or yourself) with a drink that’s both pretty and refreshingly layered.
02 -
  • Pouring grenadine too fast ruins the layers—had to throw out my first batch when it turned a muddy pink.
  • Fresh juice really boosts flavor, but bottled works in a pinch if you chill it well.
03 -
  • Lifting the glass and tilting it as you pour grenadine makes the sunrise even more defined.
  • A tiny bit of extra pineapple juice can mellow tartness without crowding the other flavors.
